Happy Birthday to Me!

With Baby A just turning one, Brad and I decided it was more than appropriate to celebrate my 33rd Birthday with our first night away.  Ellen and Frank were generous and offered to have the girls over Saturday and Sunday, and so we took off for wine country.

Bright and early Saturday morning we drove to Healdsburg to wine taste at both Stuhlmuller and Thomas George Estates.  At Thomas George we were fortunate to have a private tasting in their caves in the library room.  It was quite special.

Between the two wineries, we stopped in Geyserville at a Pizzeria and Salumeria called Diavola.  It was delicious.

Then we finally checked into our hotel called the H2 Hotel in downtown, a sister to Hotel Healdsburg.  H2 is a "green hotel" with pretty neat amenities, including a "water bar" on every floor with unlimited sparking water (brad's dream come true) and still water.

We dropped our bags off and because we had several hours until our dinner reservation, we headed back out to explore the downtown.  Mostly walking and window shopping, we stopped in what looked like a local dive bar to watch the football games for a bit.

SpoonBar downstairs in our hotel lobby is a local favorite, with an extensive cocktail list.  Before heading upstairs Brad tried a cocktail containing green chartreuse and I sipped a cocktail that contained cucumber infused vodka.  Both were creative and delicious (and green!).

Because we still had a few hours to kill, we both dozed on and off for about an hour.  Our dinner reservation was only a block away, but it was not until 8:30 (which is quite late for us!).  We were both very excited to try Cyrus, as it has received 2 Michelin stars and came very recommended.

The restaurant merits an entire blog post itself, but I'll spare you reliving my dinner.  Long story short, and 8 courses and 3 hours later, we experienced the best meal of our lives.  If you ever have the opportunity to try it out, please do!

The weekend was quite fantastic, and what made it even more incredible was that I slept in until 8:45 the next morning; it was a treat!
