First Haircut

Sunday we took a family trip to the local kid's hair salon- both girls enjoyed their first hair cut!

Amelia having her first hair cut at 3.5 years gave the stylist quite a laugh.  We had to explain that she only started growing hair after she turned 2.  She actually still has some areas where hair is just starting to grow.  Amelia loved every minute of it.  I am sure it was nice that she was able to watch Thomas the Train during the 5 minute cut and was sent home with a zebra slap bracelet and dum dum lollypop.  What a day!

The finished product:

Baby A's turn...

I love that the stylist had to prop her up on a pillow so she could reach the back of her neck - this is essentially all that was cut.  Audrey was born with darker hair and this length of hair we fondly named the "ducktail" sprouted from the back of her head - you can kind of see it in the picture above.  Anyhow, her actual hair is growing in blonde, so the ducktail has an ombre feel with the darker birth hair at the bottom and her new blond hair at the top.  We were able to save the clipping for her baby book.

Audrey loves being groomed.  I love her face in the picture above - smiling and enjoying every minute.    Whenever she's done with her bath at home, she coos while I put lotion on her and closes her eyes and smiles while I run the brush through her baby hair.  She's too funny.

Family Photo with the girls' new do's - not the greatest of brad and me but we don't have many family pictures lately!

9 Months for Baby A!

Happy 9-month Birthday to sweet baby Audrey (Sept 28)!  Although it's cliche to say, babies grow up way too fast.  It feels like the blink of an eye since she was born.  This little one is busy putting everything she can get her hands on into her mouth, pulling up on everything - the cookbook rack, the sliding glass door, and even Vegas, eating up a storm ( I think she spent just a month on the baby food purees and then decided table food is where it's at!), giggling with her sister, and sleeping like a champ!  We are so blessed with this darling girl and I love to watch Amelia interact with her.   Sisters are so sweet!

Happy 9-months Audrey!

Picture Day

This is what Amelia picked out to wear to picture day at school.  Note the bead necklace, silver and opal bracelet and huge flower head band. Oh- and the box she's carrying is filled with sparkly princess chapstick.   I just love this girl!

Visit from the Kearns Family

Our long time friends Kenny and Alex and their son Brady spent Sunday afternoon with us.  The husbands watched a plethora of football games, the kiddos had a blast pulling toys out of every nook and cranny of the house, and Alex and I enjoyed a long-overdue visit.  It was especially nice as the day actually felt like Fall!

Good food, good wine and good friends make for quite a day.  I was having too much fun to capture the majority of the activities, but the evening had to end with a warm bubble bath and jammie joes.

Amelia, Brady had so much fun with you!  thanks for playing --

uh oh - I think we're going to have our hands full!

Coach Altick

Brad is coaching another season for Menlo School frosh-soph football.  Amelia absolutely loved going to the games last year.  The school does not have cheerleaders, so Amelia would wear her UCD Aggies cheer uniform to all the Menlo games (they share the same colors) and the team parents would love to see her cheering on the Knights with her pom-poms.

The team is 3-0 and Audrey attended her first game on Friday.  We watched in the End Zone to keep in the shade, where we fed Audrey dinner, Amelia kicked the soccer ball and played in the track and field's "sandbox."

Way to go, Coach Altick!

Vegas was truly disappointed that she was not allowed in the free-range chicken area.
